1. What This Extension Does

The KiWi Recipes browser extension lets you save recipes from any website to your KiWi Recipes account. When you visit a webpage, the extension checks whether the page contains a recipe. If it does, you can preview and save it with one click.

2. Data We Access

When you browse the web with the extension installed, it accesses:

• The URL of the current page, to check if it contains recipe data
• The page content (HTML structure), to detect and extract recipe information such as ingredients, instructions, cooking times, and images

This access only occurs on the active tab and only to detect recipes. The extension does not read or access any non-recipe content such as passwords, form data, or personal information on the page.

3. Data Sent to Our Servers

Data is only sent to our servers when you choose to save a recipe. When you click save, the following is transmitted:

• The extracted recipe data (title, ingredients, instructions, cooking times, servings, images)
• The source URL of the recipe
• Your account identifier (to save the recipe to your account)

For social media URLs (YouTube, Instagram, TikTok), the video URL is sent to our server for AI-powered recipe extraction. All data is transmitted over HTTPS to Google Cloud. No data is sent unless you explicitly initiate a save.

4. Data Stored on Your Device

The extension stores the following locally on your device using the browser's storage API:

• Authentication tokens (to keep you signed in)
• Your language and measurement preferences
• Temporary per-tab state (recipe detection status, cleared when the tab closes)

This data never leaves your device and is cleared when you sign out or uninstall the extension.

5. Third-Party Services

The extension relies on the following third-party services:

• Firebase Authentication: handles sign-in (email/password, Google, or Apple). Governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
• Google Cloud: processes and stores recipe data when you save. Hosted in the United States.

We do not use any analytics, advertising, or tracking services.

6. What We Don't Do

• We do not track your browsing history
• We do not collect analytics or usage data
• We do not display ads
• We do not sell, share, or distribute your data to third parties
• We do not read personal information, passwords, or form data from webpages

7. Your Rights

• You can uninstall the extension at any time to stop all data access
• You can request deletion of your account and all associated recipe data by contacting us
• Signing out clears all locally stored authentication data
• We will delete your data within 30 days of a deletion request
